Job Summary:
The Summer Drone Operations Intern will play a vital role in supporting our drone operations, from flight planning and execution to equipment maintenance and data processing. This role also includes the application of crop protection products using drones. This position requires a strong work ethic, a passion for technology, a willingness to learn, and adherence to strict safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting pre-flight inspections and ensuring drone airworthiness.
- Executing flight plans for agricultural data collection and application of crop protection products (training provided).
- Operating drones safely and efficiently in various field conditions.
- Assisting with data processing and analysis.
- Maintaining and repairing drone equipment.
- Supporting warehouse operations, including inventory management and organization.
- Adhering to all FAA regulations, IDALS regulations, and company safety protocols.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license required.
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate preferred, but not required. Airstrike Ag will assist the right candidate in obtaining their certification.
- Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) Pesticide Applicator License (11F category) preferred, but not required. Airstrike Ag will assist the right candidate in obtaining their certification.
- Strong interest in aviation, technology, and agriculture.
- Ability to work long hours during the summer months.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills are a plus.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
